What is Landlords Insurance?

Landlords insurance is a type of insurance created to protect landlords who let out property. It usually offers buildings cover and sometimes contents cover with the same types of protection found in some home insurance policies. Landlords insurance may also have a malicious damage element to protect the property and/or it’s contents from damage by bad tenants.

Why buy Landlords Insurance

Many people who decide to rent out their property believe that their standard buildings and contents cover will be sufficient when they have tenants. Advice should be sought on this matter though because the landlord may not indeed be covered and separate landlords insurance may be rquired.

Where to get Landlords Insurance

Many of the large insurers now offer landlords buildings and contents insurance as one of their products. In addition there are a number of specialist insurers who focus on providing landlords and buy to let insurance quotes. A search in Google for “Landlords Insurance” or “Buy to Let Insurance” in order to find these companies, or take advice from your financial adviser.

How to Bleed a Radiator

Have you got a radiator feeling cold at the top and warm at the bottom. You probably need to bleed the radiator. If you don’t keep your radiators full of water, it can result in corrosion and ultimately a blocked system. You’ll need a radiator key which you can pick up for a few pennies at most ironmongers. A cup to catch drips and a rag to clean up is also helpful.

What the video below doesn’t say is that if you have a closed system like a combi boiler, after you bleed the radiator you should check the pressure on the boiler gauge and let some more water in via the fill valve. That’s probably a separate video though.

Insulate your old windows with plastic film
